Residence Day 1: Independent-Space Programme

A DIY symposium created by the participants, exploring the history, legacy and current state of independent space and cultures. Informal and drop-in: any session can be enjoyed on its own. Session themes and schedule at Independent-Space Programme page .

18:00-23:00 ::: DECK: DIY Fairground Fun-Fair [Mechanical Rides | Art Installation]

A collection of humorous, ‘hand-cranked’ rides by artist Paddy Bloomer- Serving unhealthy snacks during break times.

19:00-23:00 ::: HOLD 1: SpaceKraft Kino: Double-Bill [Film Screenings] - Tuesday ticket or all days festival pass

Two feature documentaries portraying the recent histories of independent art projects emerging from the underground, with links and historic parallels to Spacecraft. The films explore the role of charismatic figures within complex collective ventures, and the challenges and paradoxes facing alternative projects claiming space and negotiating an ongoing existence within a wider world and economy.

Invisible Circus: No Dress Rehearsal (99) Directed by Naomi Smyth

Charismatic ringmaster Doug Francis leads his anarchist circus from margins to mainstream with the motto 'If it's not impossible, we're not interested'. The 3-year span of the film takes them from chaotic squat crew to licensed building managers with huge show budgets - via rotting garages, crumbling cathedrals and finally a takeover of Bristol's ex-police HQ. Relationships in the close team reveal the gain and the pain of success, but 3 years on and they're still working for free. Profit or loss?

    St. Pauli Queertour – 100 Jahre Pride auf St. Pauli

    Viele Jahrzehnte lang war St. Pauli die unkonventionelle Vorstadt Hamburgs, Hafen- und Vergnügungsviertel. Hier sammelten sich die Menschen, die innerhalb der Stadtmauern nicht erwünscht waren. Auch die LGBTQI+ Community fühlte sich hier willkommen – wo die Kaufmannstochter mit dem Seemann tanzen konnte, waren auch gleichgeschlechtliche Paare auf der Tanzfläche nichts Anrüchiges.
    Auf diesem Stadtteilrundgang geht es um Verfolgung der queeren Community während der Zeiten, in denen der Paragraph 175 noch Bestand hatte – viele Biografien hinter Stolpersteinen erzählen Geschichten dazu. Auf der anderen Seite fand die Community kreative Schlupflöcher, etablierte Orte der Begegnung und übte Widerstand gegen Diskriminierung. Queere Menschen waren und sind in der Sexarbeit, als Wirt*innen und als Künstler*innen tätig und haben auf St. Pauli einiges bewegt. Wir schauen uns queere Orte der Ausgehkultur der letzten hundert Jahre bis heute an und stoppen für einen Drink in der ältesten Schwulenbar Hamburgs. Eine Buchung vor der Tour ist leicht, aber zwingend nötig! Entweder per Mail oder Buchung auf der Website.
